L.O.V.E/L.A.S.K.O. is a conversation about how our relationship to love and relationships has changed over time. How do our cultures inform our relationships and understanding of love?
L.O.V.E/L.A.S.K.O. explores love and intimacy at a time of distance and isolation. It begins a conversation about how our relationship to love and relationships, with our partners and with ourselves, has changed over the past year. Exploring the stories of our own upbringings and our expectations for loving relationships as well as the stories we all know, we ask how our cultures inform our relationships and understandings of love. What do relationships look like for us now? Do they work? What will relationships look like in the future?
L.O.V.E/L.A.S.K.O. represents the mythological story of the human condition, love, despair, hope, faith, disappointment, connection, rejection, and distance. The project considers how we can repeat mistakes, forget the past, remember and reimagine ourselves in the past, present and future. We explore the world of collaboration and joy, the closeness and distance that are possible in a space and how we interact with our bodies after a period of distance. We investigate these moments and the relationship between music and the body amongst ourselves, with the audience, and with the space. The need to come together and find new impulses is universal. In this performance, we explore the human condition and how we relate to difficulty, change, empathy and the self.
Audiences may register for seated tickets with additional standing space open to the public. Visibility for standing spectators may be limited.
Okra Foundation is a group of artists, students and graduates of the Prague universities DAMU, FAMU, HAMU, AVU and UMPRUM. As international students or foreigners working in Prague, we have many times found ourselves in situations where our work has been marginalized by these institutions or the art scene. We have decided to draw on these experiences to create a platform capable of developing the diversity of the Prague scene and offering support to emerging international artists in the Czech Republic. The main members of OKRA Foundation are Alyssa Dillard [DAMU], Lamija Čehajić [AVU], Nadezda Nazrova (DAMU) and Soojin Jo [HAMU].
