A tragic puppet opera, performed on a small but luxurious baroque stage. Ancient creatures, from the first complex ocean organisms of the Ediacaran biota to different kinds of dinosaurs, will appear as opera singers, demonstrating a broader range of vocal abilities than ordinary human singers. The huge size of the animals matches the scale of a tragedy that humans have yet to experience: the Tragedy of Extinction. Dinopera combines Czech puppetry traditions with German-language opera and more experimental genres of music.
The opera is a collaboration between students in the Department of Alternative and Puppet Theatre at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (KALD DAMU) with musicians from Berlin. It features unique music and a libretto in four languages.
Audience: adult, children 10+
About the company
