aerial acrobatics, physical theatre, dance
We all have unrealistic dreams, but inside we still hope that maybe... we just need to fulfil one thousand tasks. One thousand wiped up floors, one thousand good deeds, one thousand pull-ups...? We ourselves are our own tasks and so we infinitely make our imprints in the time until we understand that it is better to watch from above.

A gift from Edo

The creation was inspired by the theme of hibakusha – survivors of the Hiroshima bombing, by the legend of one thousand cranes and by the Japanese aesthetic concepts of wabi-sabi and yugen on transient beauty and subtlety, but it is mainly about what will come into your mind during the show... We all have our own little war and our own tragedy.
„It seems that Eliška Brtnická found a way how to get rid of the formal technic obligations and to make use of it for profit of her creation.“
arbora Kašparová, Taneční Zóna (Dance Zone)
„...the performance on the scene is a materialisation of calmness and total concentration.“
Lucie Kocourková, OperaPlus
Eliška Brtnická graduated from the non-verbal theatre at HAMU in Prague, where she continues her PhD studies. In 2010 she founded Cirkus Mlejn company. In 2017 she attended a course of circus dramaturgy at the prestigious French school CNAC. She often works with circus artists Ilona Jäntti /FI/ or Stéphanie N'Duhirahe /CH/. Searching for new expressions of aerial movement she experiments with acrobatic technic and choreography. Recently she has leaned towards a visual arts conception of her performances (for example, cooperation with the Czech sculptor Čestmír Suška) as well as site-specific pieces. She is the program director of the international festival Fun Fatale.
