Lagronová Lenka

Lenka Lagronová is engaged in writing theatre and radio plays; she was a dramaturge in the 1990s, when she worked with director Petr Lébl. She has written more than 25 plays, some of them were produced during her studies, ten plays have been translated into foreign languages (English, Spanish, Russian, Polish etc.), they have been also put on stage abroad. Plays are most frequently produced in Prague (Na Vinohradech Theatre, National Theatre, Komedie Theatre, Theatre on the Balustrade, Pidivadlo, A Studio Rubín, DISK), but also in Ústí nad Labem (Drama Studio), Hradec Králové (Klicpera Theatre), Uherské Hradiště (Slovácko Theatre) and others; many plays are still manuscripts only. The most distinctive plays from her latter literary output period are The Antelope, The Marquise, The Peacock, Little Theresa, The Kingdom, Miriam, Never, Joan, Etty Hillesum, The Cry, The Wing, Laughter, From Stardust or Chupacabra. She has worked with Czech Radio since 1999.

She graduated from dramaturgy at the Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts (1991). In 1997, she made a monastic vow of poverty, chastity and obedience, and she lives a dedicated life at various places at the Czech Republic.

Lenka Lagronová has received the Alfréd Radok Award for the best play of the year (Little Theresa, 1997), the honorable mention at Prix Bohemia Radio (radio play Get Up, Please, 2002; the text was also nominated for the international Prix Italia showcase), The Cry was nominated for the Alfréd Radok Award in 2007 and her play From Stardust ended up on the 2nd place in the Czech-Slovak competition New drama in 2010.
